This product works really well if used properly. You must know your body and how your body responds to certain diets and certain alterations in caloric intake. You must also take into consideration that an increased metabolic rate will exhaust glycogen stores much faster than a normal state, so if you attempt to compensate by increasing your intake of carbohydrates, you defeat the purpose of using this product!
That being said, I followed a slightly modified ketogenic diet and additionally supplemented with HMB (works for me), Amino Acids (BCAA-AKG, but the esterfied BCAAs supposedly work with a far better absorption rate), glutamine, and muscle-milk. Should you choose to add a low dose of a prohormone to attempt to retain more muscle and/or strength while phasing into ketosis and enhancing your metabolism, I would suggest 10-20 mg of ergomax lmg per day, tops. Hell if you're going to slightly suppress one system, might as well do both!!!
Remember to eat plenty of healthy FATS while in ketosis! I'm not reviewing the effects of ketogenesis, but I'm trying to give you (the reader) a heads up of a common mistake! Eating meat and veggies doesn't cut it! Fiber is indigestible and your body will accomodate it's fuel source with protein and a metabolic shift will favor the catabolism of muscle tissue via glucagon and burn valuble lean mass for fuel! I am 200 lbs. I ate about 3500 cals per day. Each meal had about 250 cals from fat, 200 cals from protein, and the carbs from the veggies was negatable. Before bedtime I would have an additional casein shake (50 grams). I'd recommend spending a solid 30-45 minutes a day with weights, and a good 30-45 minutes medium intensity cardio. Drink plenty of water and DON'T OVERTRAIN!!!!
I may get scolded for this long review, but I feel sorry for those who misuse products and honestly don't know any better. I am satisfied with this product very much so. I forgot to say that I did use 2 caps 3x per day. At the cost, I believe that SAN's artificial thyroid product or PBL's Trx may have the same effect but for half the price. I lost 5 lbs during the 30 days, but I am FAR more cut than I was before and I actually think I gained muscle mass from the extra sleep and the muscle preservation properties of ketosis. Oh and by the way, restoring glycogen by dosing alpha lipoic acid with some fruit before and after a workout will not abolish ketosis once you're TRULY phased in!
BTW: Afterwards, please consider salvaging the stress you put your body through by using Blaze and Retain. Blaze is my personal favorite non-stim, jack-of-all-trades product and Retain has gotten rave reviews! |
