This would have to rank as one of the better nootropic substances. While it is widely used and recommended for reducing anxiety, I find that it also increases my focus and lucidity. In addition, unlike other common nootropics such as piracetam, vinpocetine, and subutamine, the effect is not subtle. It kicks in within 5 minutes. I've taken it during several different "baseline" conditions. One I was drowsy at night. I took Theanine and I felt refreshed and energetic, without being manic. Another time, I hit a mid-morning lull and felt like I had lost my focus. After I took Theanine, I instantly became noticeably more capable and competent, mentally.
There are a lot of good nootropics out there. But, after a week or so, I'd have to say this ranks near or at the top. It's relatively inexpensive. It seems to work for me. It doesn't require a very large dose to work. And probably, for many people, it could be all they need.
